“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. His Presence | Kimi Miller

S~ The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it. Matthew 13:44-46 (NIV)

O~ In both parables, these men are looking for something. Perhaps the first stumbled upon it unexpectedly, but we know the second was looking for a pearl of great value. When both found this “thing” of great worth, they sold everything they had to get it.

A~ For a long time, I couldn’t understand what Jesus meant when he would talk about the kingdom of heaven. Now I know, he simply means “His presence.” I know there is deeper theology there, but for me, His presence is enough for me to understand, because I’ve experienced it. I’ve tasted and seen that God is good!

But is it enough for me to give up everything else? Am I willing to give up my comfort and my security, just to be in His presence?

The answer for me is yes. For me, His presence is enough to get me out of bed and take my weary, tired, barely awake soul to meet with Him. His presence is enough for me to seek Him first in my day – in my situations and interactions with others. Do I do it right, or even at all, every single time? No, but I’m trying. I’m trying to be more aware that God is in everything, and when I choose to keep my eyes on Him, I can see all things more clearly.

P~ God, keep opening my eyes so that I might see You in everything in every moment of my day.
