Not Left In The Wilderness | Joni Tyner

S~ I will rebuild you, my virgin Israel.

You will again be happy

And dance merrily with your tambourines.

Again you will plant your vineyards on the mountains of Samaria

And eat from your own gardens there.  Jeremiah 31:4-5  (NLT)

O~ Jeremiah is telling Israel that God has not left them in the wilderness, He still loves them and has blessings in store for their future.

A~ I have had seasons in my life where circumstances sucked out my happy and I didn’t know if I would ever be joyful again.  There are many scriptures that remind us that there may be pain for a period of time, but God will restore our joy.  “there may be pain in the night, but joy comes in the morning.”

I have a sweet, dear friend who radiates joy wherever she goes. She loves Jesus.  And last week, she was very unexpectedly sucked in the darkest, most painful days of her life.   Her heart is crushed and she is confused and sad and I’m sure questioning everything in her life. I wish there was something to alleviate her pain, but there is nothing humans can say or do that will change her new reality.  I’m praying that she is covered by Jesus’s comfort and protection and that she listens to the Truth found in scripture.  And, I’m praying that, although there is going to be pain for a season, she will once again find joy and happiness and peace that can only come from You.

P~ Holy Spirit, we need you desperately to intercede with this situation!  I don’t think anyone knows what to pray for in this situation,  it’s too painful and confusing for words.  I pray for You to bring comfort to all, to pour out Your grace in abundance.  Lord,  we need Your Divine intervention.

Knowing Sorrow to Fully Know Joy | Kelley Deases

S~ I will turn their mourning into gladness, I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow. Jeremiah 31:13 b (NIV)

O~  Isn’t this what the Lord promises His children? Whether it is a season of trial, loss or grief followed by a time of blessing or prosperity or a lifetime of hardship overshadowed by an eternity in His presence, the Lord assures us one day we shall no longer mourn but experience gladness, comfort and joy.

A~ The deeper we have tasted sorrow, the more we can appreciate the joy of the Lord. I think of my husband, who endured great chaos and instability as a child, who now counts every day of his life in Christ, his marriage, his parenthood, his home and his employment as a gift to be cherished. Even if the day is stressful, his wife is grumpy, his kid is mouthy, the house requires repair or his work hours are long, he has a deep sense of contentment and joy for this good life the Lord has given him on the other side. In much the same way, I have an even greater degree of gratitude for my husband and my marriage after experiencing the heartbreak of my first husband’s infidelity and abandonment. I think of my mother, who knew poverty and hunger as the child of a single mom, but now understands the blessing it is to have some material wealth and has a heart to use those resources to be a blessing to others.

P~ Father, It makes my heart glad to remember Your character of being a Giver of comfort and joy, that You will not leave us in our sorrow and mourning.

NOTHING Is Too Hard For You | Kim Chipman

S~ “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me? Jeremiah 32:27 (NIV)

O~ We are in a sermon series at church, and I just did a Bible study, about the I AM statements of Jesus in John. This isn’t Jesus speaking but I need to remember this. I AM GOD. (And you are not, Kim…hello). I am the Lord, the God of all mankind!

A~ There are things in my life that I realize I’ve kind of given up on, don’t really deal with, ignore, procrastinate…They don’t go away when I do that, but I just realize I do it. This is a breath of hope into those spaces. There is nothing too hard for YOU. When I’m feeling overwhelmed and underequipped…weak…when I am weak You are strong. I need to lean into that, not ignore it or shut down. I need to remember who You are (not who I am).

NOTHING is too hard for You!

So much hope!

P~ WOW my heart needed this today. I may be weak but you are not. I may be overwhelmed but you are not. You are the LORD! Thank You for reminding me! I love You!
