Above All Things | Kim Chipman

S~ Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)

O~ “above all else”…sounds IMPORTANT!

A~ Ok so HOW do I guard my heart. It’s so important, but HOW do I do it? Lord show me…

I know I need to really be serious about my thought life. (Proverbs 23:7 As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he). I know my thoughts control my attitudes, words, and actions. This isn’t new knowledge for me. I know and fully accept how important it is to take each thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Cor 10:5). I’ve been in a funk lately, though, and I’m quite confident that it’s because I’m NOT taking EACH thought captive to make it obedient to Christ. They are running rampant. Self doubt and condemnation, questioning my worth, worry and frustration…oh my! OK, I hear You. Step 1: watch my thought life.

I’m sure I can guard my heart by taking my thoughts captive by being careful what I’m taking in. Am I in the Word every day? (pretty much, yes) Am I choosing to meditate on it throughout the day? (sometimes? yeah, maybe not really enough.) What am I watching? What am I reading? Where is my focus?

OK, so I’ll start here…Lord show me HOW else I can guard my heart…”above all else”…

P~ Lord, I love You. I need You. I need Your help. I know I’m not doing this because my heart has been a bit of a mess. Help! I know You are able. I trust You. I need You. I love You~
