Love | Nikki Metzger

S~ Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins. 1 Peters 4:8 (NIV)

O/A~ It’s tough to love others when I’m in pain or don’t feel good, it’s usually a headache that takes over my life.  So the care and keeping of my body and health go beyond making sure my body is cared for.  Because when I feel good and am focused on Jesus, loving others is so much easier!

But even if I’m not feeling well or am not focused on Jesus for whatever reason – I ALWAYS have a choice.  I can still choose love, grace, forgiveness, inclusion, give my attention away.  A bad mood, being disappointed, being in pain, or not feeling well is NO excuse to not love deeply!  It’s a choice!

P~ Father, I desire to love well, all the time, NOT just when I’m feeling good.  Grow my heart and mind and soul to love deeply!

Using My Gifts | Kelley Deases

S~ Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)

O~ Why do we have tongues to speak? The Apostle Peter would say it is to edify, encourage and share the message of the Gospel. Why do we have capable hands, which can cook, clean, create and touch? So we can do those things for our families, the Body of Christ and the world at large as an expression of God’s love. Why do we have hearts which beat with compassion for hurting people? So we will be moved to action to be God’s ambassadors in a world that is not our home.

A~ I am humbled to reflect on the many times God has been able to use me to be an instrument to accomplish His purposes. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to share a testimony of deepened faith, healing from brokenness and restored hope to those experiencing the trauma of divorce. I have had a chance to encourage people to open up their Bibles for themselves and find God’s love and direction for their lives through writing for this blog. Just by cleaning the house and opening my door on Friday mornings, I have been used to offer a safe place for women to pore over God’s Word together and encourage one another in their marriages and parenting. He has given me a husband and two sons (and now a daughter-in-law) to whom I can help and serve and build up.

P~ Father, Remind my heart every day of the privilege it is to possess the unique gifts I have to offer which You intend for me to steward well, in the service of others.

Our team would love the privilege of praying for you! Please share how we can lift you in prayer at prayer@DiscoverOneThing.com
