He Knew Me | Jill Terry

S~ Before I formed you in the womb I knew you. Jeremiah 1:5a (NAS)

O/A~ God knew me and He loved me before I was even conceived. As an adoptee, I often felt like my life was a mistake. My parents did not plan me or want me, in fact, my mother actually scheduled to have an illegal abortion to get rid of me. The doctor who was to abort me was arrested the night prior to my birth mother’s appointment. So, instead I was placed for adoption.

It is so amazing to me that God knew me and loved me and had a plan for my life before I was even conceived. It took me far too long to understand and believe this concept. If my own parents did not want me or love me, than how could God possibly know me and love me before I was ever conceived?

P~ Lord, Thank you for knowing me and loving me Thank you for my life. Amen

Ready Obedience | Tara Wiley

S~ Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you. Before you saw the light of day, I had holy plans for you… I’ll tell you where to be and you’ll go there. I’ll tell you what to say and you’ll say it. – Jeremiah 1:5,7 (MSG)

O~ God had great plans for Jeremiah, and as he looked at this man He formed, He knew those plans would be fulfilled because Jeremiah had a ready and obedient heart.

A~ I want to be used by God every day of my life – but that requires ready and immediate obedience.

P~ Lord, thank You that Your grace covers the times I’ve let my own desires get in the way of Your call. Help me be obedient to You – to GO where You call me to go and SPEAK when You call me to speak! Keep me sensitive to Your Spirit and Your leading. I want to be a modern day Jeremiah. I want to be Your voice in the wilderness. I want to be the repairer of the breach. Thank You for the examples You give in Scripture of the kinds of people You use to accomplish Your mission. Thank You that Jeremiah wasn’t perfect – just willing and ready to obey. That’s what I want to be, Lord.

The Fruit of the Father’s Love – Robin Laney

S~ The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life – only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. John 10:17-18a (NIV)

O~ What love! The Father loves the Son all the more because he loves the ones the Father created so much that he would lay down his life for them. The Son finds the Father’s love to be worth the suffering and sacrifice he would endure. Matthew Henry comments that the fruit of the Father’s love is the Son’s sacrifice. This Son, Jesus, having complete authority over his own life and death chooses to offer himself for us all. Though the story of his death tells of an arrest and a crucifixion, Jesus was the one solely responsible for his death. He, being a humble servant offered the sacrifice of himself.

A~ My heart seized a bit and tears welled up in my eyes today as I read this and considered it. I couldn’t even process my feelings into words. None formed in my head. I am not normally short on words but even after praying for them, I still don’t have many. What settled on my heart is this overwhelming sense of being more deeply loved than I can imagine and the desire to love others with that same intensity. I long for His love for me to be all-satisfying overcoming any need to look elsewhere for it, for His love to grow me and flow over and through me, and for the fruit of that love to be my life poured out for those He loves. I want the reason my Father loves me to be that I lay down my life.

P~ Lord, thank You for loving me. Let me love like You love. Let me pour out my life for those You love. May Your love be more than sufficient for me.

  1. I agree with Robin, what a beautiful love story, I hope that you share it with many because that is such a testimony that God had a plan for your life. As Robin said, He set you apart, just think about the circumstances of how you ended up writing on this blog. God loves you and has an AMAZING plan for your life. Thanks for sharing, i’m so encouraged this evening.

  2. Wow, Jill! How incredibly loved you are! God already knew how you would be saved as He was creating you! He plucked you from the enemy’s hand before you were even born and set you apart for Himself. Your birth mom may not have had the capacity to care for you at that time but you certainly were not unloved by any means! The God of the universe made special provision so that you would be born and live for Him! There is no greater love than His love!
