“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. Click HERE to go directly to the daily reading if you wish.

Hezekiah’s Prayer | Kelley Deases

S~ And Hezekiah prayed to the Lord: “Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth. Give ear, Lord, and hear; open your eyes, Lord, and see; listen to all the words Sennacherib has sent to ridicule the living God.

“It is true, Lord, that the Assyrian kings have laid waste all these peoples and their lands. They have thrown their gods into the fire and destroyed them, for they were not gods but only wood and stone, fashioned by human hands. Now, Lord our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you, Lord, are the only God.” Isaiah 37:15-20 (NIV)

O~ Hezekiah’s prayer shows us how we should approach God. He is a leader in need of guidance, not just for himself but for those in his charge. He begins by acknowledging who God is, His power and His rule and reign. Hezekiah asks God to see and to hear what is going on and come to their aid. He prays God will deliver them from the king of Assyria “so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you, Lord, are the only God.”

A~ With a lot of heavy things on my heart right now — relationships, people’s struggles and complicated challenges — Hezekiah offers sound guidance on what to do (PRAY) and how to do it. I need to acknowledge God’s true authority over it all and seek His guidance and help, being open to His leading. I need to pray for His hand to move, but not so my way would be accomplished but so His glory can shine through.

P~ Father, You hold it all in Your hands. Yet You bid us come, seek, knock, ask. Help me not to miss an opportunity to seek Your face and ask Your blessing and favor. But may my motives be pure, to show and tell from Whom my blessings come.

Our team would love the privilege of praying for you! Please share how we can lift you in prayer at prayer@DiscoverOneThing.com
