Pray for All People | Kimi Miller

S~ I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. 1 Timothy 2:1 (NLT)

O~ These are Paul’s instructions to Timothy for the church.

A~ I am not a very faithful “pray-er.” It’s one of the areas I want to work on. I guess I get caught up in the “how” of prayer, instead of just talking with You. I’m trying to use my morning walks as my prayer time. Just like there is a discipline in getting up at sunrise to go for a walk, there is a discipline required in keeping my mind focused on You. How easily my mind wanders!

Usually when I wake up, it takes some convincing for me to actually get up and out of bed. I’m a little grumpy, but as I get outside and start my walk, I begin thanking You for the day and my health. Out of this place of gratitude I lift my praises up to You. I present “my” people to You, but Paul reminds us to pray for ALL people. I want to do better at expanding my prayer circle to include ALL people.

P~ Remind me, Holy Spirit, to pray for all people everywhere. Help me to be more aware when You place people on my heart, and help me to stop to pray. I ask this in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen

Each and Every One | Kelley Deases

S~  … God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:3-4 (NIV)

O~ God loves all people and desires they would turn their hearts to Him and be saved. In His view, there is no one too lost, too sick, too far gone. While people may reject God’s love and His invitation, He does not care for them any less.

A~ I should have God heart’s for people — for all people. I should have His eyes, which see each man, woman and child as beautifully created in His image. I should have His ears, which hear a heart’s desire for love and acceptance through words of pain, confusion, and foul talk. I should feel His compassion for those who are lost, alone, and have no hope.

P~ Father, Help me see people with Your eyes, hear them with Your ears, and feel for them with Your heart, desiring, as You do, that each would be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth.

  1. Thank you for sharing that. I really believe God wants to answer those types of prayers. I have also seen the Spirit change my heart as I frequently pray that I would see people through the lens that Jesus does and then I ask that He would give me time, margin, and a DESIRE to respond in a way that would give Him glory. Since I started praying that, I have constantly been amazed that I “run into” situations that I can be used by God. I don’t feel annoyed or “used” but actually I feel energized, I think it is because I have been praying this and the Lord wants me to see His faithfulness.

Thanks for sharing encouragement with us Karen, it is always so meaningful for us to hear from readers that our words connected with them.

  2. I so love today’s notes from Kimi and Kelly. God has been shaping my spirit into a praying spirit for the last few years and as I look back I am loving the changes I am seeing from the “then to the now” of me. The Spirit had me focusing on two words that changed my prayer life, All and Nevertheless. Simply put, pray for All people and All really does mean All. And Nevertheless how I see or feel about a person, nevertheless I pray for them as a child of God. People are not mine to judge but they are children of the most high God and All are worthy of prayers nevertheless how I see them, how I feel about them. So each morning I have included in my time with Jesus this statement: “Father, if there are any of your children I can pray for this day, please place them beside me or on my heart. With your help I will pray for them as you give me direction. Let me learn to love your children as you love them. Amen.”
It is with great joy that I have learned to accept each child in prayer each day. It has enlarged my heart and changed my heart from stone to pliable in God’s hands. Pretty sure that’s a good thing and I pass this on in the hopes that my reshaping will encourage others to allow reshaping as well. We are ALL still under construction and NEVERTHELESS God is still loving us thru the construction zone !
