A Loving Example of being a Mom | Joni Tyner

S~ Oh Lord, if you will look upon my sorrow and answer my prayer and give me a son, then I will give him back to you. He will be yours for his entire lifetime. 1 Samuel 1:11 (NLT)  Hannah praying to the LORD

Wait until the boy is weaned. Then I will take him to the Tabernacle and leave him there with the LORD permanently. 1 Samuel 1:22 Hannah explaining to her husband why she wasn’t going to the Tabernacle.

Years pass and Hannah would visit Samuel every year at the Tabernacle.

Each year his mother made a small coat for him and brought it to him when she came with her husband for the sacrifice.  2 Samuel 2:19 (NLT)

O~ Today’s reading is about Hannah struggling with infertility, having a son  (Samuel), and then giving him back to the LORD.

A~ Tomorrow is Mother’s Day and I get pretty sentimental about it. Being a mom means making my heart vulnerable because kids don’t stay kids forever! They grow up and start their own lives. Hannah had to experience this right after she weaned her firstborn son.  Goodness… my mama’s heart feels for her, I doubt there was ever a single day in her life she didn’t think about Samuel.  I imagine her sewing his yearly coat and perhaps baking his favorite treats. I would guess she regularly wrote letters to him. The details of the relationship after she took him to the Tabernacle aren’t shared but based on the earlier scripture of her grieving heart over her infertility, I think Hannah continued to love and pour into her son however she could.  I want to follow Hannah’s example and trust God for my next season of life.

P~ Dear Lord, thank you so much for this scripture, I can just visualize Hannah sewing that coat and smiling when she thinks about how it will please Samuel .  I ask your Holy Spirit would continue to nudge me to find ways to love and support my kids.  I ask that you would fill in my gaps when I fail or miss the assignment.  Thank you for this assignment of being their mom.

You Have Not Rejected Me! | Kimi Miller

S~ Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me. Psalm 66:20 (NIV)

O/A/P~ You’ve not rejected my prayer. You always listen. Because of Your love for me, You don’t turn away. Even when I was lost or rebellious or stubborn and full of pride, You did not withhold Your love from me. Because love is Who You are.

God, thank You for listening; not just hearing my prayer, but listening and talking with me about it. I prayed to be used by You, but You invited me to partner with You. I wanted to “do,” but You wanted me to “be.” Thank You for helping me let go of my disillusionments. You open my eyes, and take me deeper into relationship with You. I love You, God.

Our team would love the privilege of praying for you! Please share how we can lift you in prayer at
