Quenched Thirst in a Parched Land | Chelsea Horne

S~ As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? Psalm 42:1-2 (NIV)

O~ Am I this desperate in my need for God? In my need for His Love and Life in my life? In my heart, I hear an invisible song, like it is reacting to the Truth of this verse, crying out to me it’s need for Him. When have I mistakenly seen a mask of false life in the death of the world? No wonder I get burnt out so easily! I have been living in a world, and for it, that does nothing but take. Takes life, takes love, takes hope, grace, peace, straight out of my heart. With absolutely no regard for replacing what it took! This is why it’s so important for me to consciously sit with Jesus, not only in the morning at the start of my day, but all throughout my day. Only He can replenish my heart with what the world so greedily takes from it.

“Give me your time,” it says with a grin, rubbing its hands together expectantly. Like a fox waiting for a mother goose to leave her eggs, even if only for a moment.

But Jesus says, “Give Me your heart, and I will bring Life to you AND your time.”

A~ So, I will seek my living God today. I will seek His Life and His Love today, and ask if Jesus’ Living Water will fill my heart. I want Him in my life, so much so, that the world is muted. The colors changed through my eyes by His Love in my heart. I want to look at a brother or sister and see God’s Love for them, not a man or woman to be afraid and wary of like the world does.

I want His Life-giving Love to transform my heart and change my life! That, however, requires intentional effort on my part to consciously seek Him in my daily life. My life with Jesus has been very casual up to this point, this day. From now on, I want to seek Jesus with a deep passion to know Him and His Love better, and to be able to share His Love with my brothers and sisters that need it.

P~ Lord Jesus, Thank You for waking me up this morning to hear this Truth from You today. I’m sorry for surrendering my heart and it’s safety to things other than You. I’m sorry for surrendering it to the world and the people in it. Please fill my heart with You, Jesus. Please transform me and my heart to have a heart for others like You, a heart of flesh, for a broken and hurting world. As I learn, please protect my heart and teach me to surrender it to Your Strength and Love, first. Help me to see the world through Your Eyes and the courage to follow Your Spirit within me in faith, wherever You lead me.

I pray all these things in Jesus’ Name,

As the deer…. | guest post

S~ As the deer pants for streams of water so my soul pants for You, O God. Psalm 42:1 (NIV)

O~ There is a hymn with this verse in part of the chorus.  I remember singing it at church camp when I was in middle school.  I spent a week at that camp; hearing about Jesus, singing worship songs and talking about faith, but I never believed in Jesus at that camp.  But was that time wasted?  I don’t think so because 30 years later I can recall singing this song and remembering how it made me feel.  Seeds of faith were definitely planted at that camp.

A/P~ Abba, summer camps are coming up for the kids.  You know them and understand them so much better than me.  Abba, I need Your wisdom in sending them to camp this year.  How much do I push for camp?  God, please let me know what’s best for my kids!  I pray this in Jesus’ Name!

Our team would love the privilege of praying for you! Please share how we can lift you in prayer at prayer@DiscoverOneThing.com
