April 26, 2019 Judges 5; Psalm 41; Romans 15:1-13

“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. Click HERE to go directly to the daily reading if you wish.

Our Source of Hope| Kimi Miller

S~ I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 (NLT)

O~ When I place my trust in God alone, hope replaces worry; confidence in Him replaces the insecurities in me. I have power through the Holy Spirit to do all He has prepared for me.

A~ I was very recently in a place where I was feeling a bit hopeless. And worse, I felt like I needed to be okay feeling that way – like I needed to settle for less. Like my God-sized dreams had passed me by, and I’d missed the bus. I even tried to convince myself to be okay with all of it; that I just needed to stop dreaming, and just settle down and get comfortable. That I would have a good life, but not a great one.

How foolish!

I’m not dead yet! There’s still time to chase after God-sized dreams! Once I recognized that it was my own stinkin’ thinkin’ that had me down, it was easier to focus on the Truth – on what God says. And He says, “I know the plans I have for you…”

I need to meditate more on Romans 12:2, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Yes, God’s plans for me are good! He is still working on me, and I will continue to be “under construction” on this side of heaven.

P~ God, thank You for reminding me of Who You are. Thank You for Your Word. Thank You for being my source of hope. Fill me with Your Spirit, that I might be full of joy and peace, and move forward in confident hope.

God is a giver! | guest post

S~ May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus…Romans 15:5 (NIV)

O/A~ God is a giver!  Endurance, encouragement, unity in this life as I follow Jesus.  I don’t have to muster up the energy to love the harder-to-love people in my life.  God is the One who gives me this endurance!  When I’m down or despairing, sometimes just watching the news.  He gives me encouragement.  I cannot produce that from nothing.  The Lord gives it.  There is always hope!  The unity when the church comes together, that’s God too!  You can’t take a bunch of different people from a bunch of different backgrounds and expect everyone to get along.  Well, when God gives unity, you can bet it will happen.

P~ Abba, thank You for giving me endurance, encouragement, unity.  You are the giver of all things!

Our team would love the privilege of praying for you! Please share how we can lift you in prayer at prayer@DiscoverOneThing.com
