“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. Life’s Moments | Joni Tyner
S~ You have made my life no longer than the width of my hand.
My entire lifetime is just a moment to you;
At best, each of us is but a breath.
We are merely moving shadows,
And all our busy rushing ends in nothing.
We heap up wealth,
Not knowing who will spend it.
And so, Lord, where do I put my hope?
My only hope is in you. Psalm 39:5-7 (NIV)
O~ David is thinking about fleeting our lives our on this earth. My Bible notes also give a reference from James.
“How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.”—James 4:14.
A~ The last few years I’ve been working on being intentional with big and little things in my life, especially relationships. God has given me a strong yearning to do the absolute best that I can with relationships in my life. The Holy Spirit often brings people to mind and I will let them know I am thinking about them through a quick text. It only takes a few seconds to let people know I am thinking about them and they matter to me! I also try to have consistently planned times with close friends and family. It looks different with each person, but it often involves food or an activity that will create a fun memory. I just really want to use my time on earth to build up God’s people and His Kingdom.
P~ Dear Lord, thank you for this beautiful life!!! I feel so blessed to be Your child. I ask You would use me as a vessel to love people. I ask for discernment to choose activities that are life giving and help to build up other people.
Don’t Judge | Kimi Miller
S~ Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. Romans 14:19 (NIV)
O~ Throughout this chapter, Paul writes to his fellow believers about the damage of judgment. All of us are growing in our faith, some in great leaps, others in small baby-like steps. The point is, each of us should be growing. We cannot judge another person (or their faith) by our own faith.
A~ Comparison is the thief of…everything! I need to stop comparing myself to other, and others to myself. I’m not the judge or the comparison stick, neither are they. We are all on this journey of faith and discovery – which is hard enough on its own; we don’t need to tell someone what they are doing wrong – instead, we should encourage them in what they are doing well and right.
If someone asks for my opinion, it’s okay for me to answer, but I don’t need to offer up any unsolicited “advice.” Use only words that build.
P~ Help me to be a peacemaker and encourager in Your Kingdom who builds others up. Help me to be less judgmental and self-focused. Help me to see others the way You see them – through eyes of love and lenses of eternity.
