“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. Freedom in Faith | Kim Chipman
S~ Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if it were based on works. They have stumbled over the stumbling stone, as it is written, “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense; and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.” Romans 9:32-33 (ESV)
O~ My study Bible says, “Why did Israel fail to achieve right standing with God through the law? They did not pursue obedience to the law in humble trust, but tried to make it a means of establishing their own righteousness. Such a use of the law led them to stumble over the stone (which was Christ confronting them), for those attempting to establish their own righteousness see no need to believe in Christ.”
A~ I wish I could say that I can’t relate to any of this at all, but I certainly can. I find it easier to pursue right standing with You by DOing rather than faith alone. And by easier I mean it’s more natural, not easy. It’s actually exhausting but I go that direction more often than I’d care to admit.
Romans 8:1-2 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.
Faith in You brings FREEDOM – hallelujah!
P~ Lord, help me live in this freedom today. Help me to choose secure faith rather than works based striving. I love You!
