April 15, 2019 Joshua 7,8; Psalm 69; Romans 9:1-18

“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. Click HERE to go directly to the daily reading if you wish.

S~ I am in pain and distress; may Your salvation, O God, protect me.  I will praise God’s name in song and glorify Him with thanksgiving. Psalm 69: 29,30 (NIV)

O/A~ What hope and comfort this verse is.  One thing that I love to do is learn about health, especially alternative ways to feel better and thrive.  One thing that I keep hearing in my research on health is about stress management and how damaging uncontrolled stress is to our body.  Researchers recommend a daily journaling practice of gratitude!  They also recommend meditation.

I’ve always been wary of meditation.  Joshua 1:8 says, “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips;meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”  So I guess it depends on what I meditate on.  God’s Word seems like a great choice on the focus of my meditation.

P~ Abba, Thanks for letting me see how the ‘new’ things I’m learning about health were already established by You many years ago 🙂

Our team would love the privilege of praying for you! Please share how we can lift you in prayer at prayer@DiscoverOneThing.com

  1. This is a beautiful reminder to stay focused on the life-giving, powerful Word of our Creator who reaches out to us continually for our good, our strength, and our encouragement.

    Thank you!
