Your Mercy | Marisa Hartman
S~ And in that day I will become angry with them and forsake them; I will hide my face from them and they will be destroyed. Many disasters and calamities will come on them, and in that day they will ask, ‘have not these disasters come on us because God is not with us? Deuteronomy 31:17 (NIV)
O~ Moses is preparing for death. Before he dies, God meets with him to anoint Joshua as the next leader. During that meeting God is telling Moses that He knows how the Israelites are going to behave in the promised land- but He gives it to them anyway! God promised this land and He doesn’t change.
A~ God doesn’t hold back blessings even when He knows we are going to mess up. That is so humbling. God could have said, “You ungrateful Israelites! Forget it. Back to the desert!!” They deserved God’s punishment, but received His mercy instead. My rebellious heart deserves His punishment too. I mess up all the time. . When I spend my days self-focused it’s easy to think I’ve got a handle on things, but I so don’t. He always meets me with mercy when I come to Him with repentance. He KNOWS what I’ll do tomorrow and He still blesses me. I have no excuse for my sin. God shields me and protects me. He leads me when I listen. His heart is for me even when I feel so unworthy.
P~ Father thank you for your unending grace and patience. Help me to focus on you in the joy and the struggle. Thank you for blessing me beyond what I deserve. My heart is yours. Amen.
My prayer | guest post
S~ He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. Psalm 40:2 (NIV)
O/A~ I have a prayer in my bible, basically it’s praying Psalm 40 over someone I love. It’s an old, old prayer. Years old. Still waiting for God to lift my friend out of the slimy pit, mud and mire. To set her feet on the rock and give her a firm place to stand. I could weep right now thinking of all the hurt my friend carries. I just want to tell her, and have told her, ‘Give it all to Jesus. He is in the business of getting His beloveds out of the slimy pit.’
P~ Oh Abba! Thank You for reminding me of this prayer of old. Never let me tire of people’s eternity mattering! Abba, I ask that You would keep pursuing my friend and do not let their heart grow cold to You. I pray salvation over my friend in Jesus’ Name!

S~ So you should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus. Romans 6:11 (NLT)
O~ Paul is the writer of Romans. In chapter 6, he shares how once we are saved, we are free from sin’s power over us. “Do not let sin control the way you live, do not give in to sinful desires. ” Romans 6: 12
A~ Confession. Yesterday when I read this scripture, my initial thought in my head was a sarcastic response, “yea—right…that’s never gonna happen.” I think the reason that was my initial response was because I default to trying to “be good” on my own. I always fail when it’s my effort—the selfishness comes out, and also the bad words, the gossip, and the pride that sneaks its way into every area of my life. This scripture is a fresh reminder to pray that the Holy Spirit would invade my day and be my strength to defeat sin.
P~ Dear Lord, I pray that each and every day, I would have a fresh filling of Your Spirit to go to battle against the schemes of the enemy. I want to represent You with excellence. I pray when I neglect to ask for Your help, You would step in for me. I’m so weak, I.need.You
This worship song game to mind, as I played it this morning, I simply worshipped my King in the quietness of my living room, I closed my eyes and simply let the lyrics touch my heart. I invite you to pause in your day and worship our King.
