April 1, 2019 Deuteronomy 14,15; Romans 1:1-17

“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. Click HERE to go directly to the daily reading if you wish.

Praying for Opportunity | Chelsea Horne

S~ One of the things I always pray for is the opportunity, God willing, to come at last to see  you. For I long to visit you so I can bring you some spiritual gift that will help you grow strong in the Lord.  When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours. Romans 1:10-12 (NLT)

O~ When Paul wrote the book of Romans, he had not yet visited Rome.  He knew that meeting with the new believers in Rome would strengthen and encourage their faith which in turn would spread the gospel.

A/P~ Dear Lord, please open up opportunities for me to meet with other believers so that we can both be encouraged and have our faith strengthened.  I ask for margin in my daily activities to respond when opportunity happens and that I would use the time to give You glory.  I pray that my knowledge might increase of the scripture so that I can recall it to encourage others.  I ask for insight about what to talk about so that they feel understood and loved.  Help me see people the way You see them.

My Beautiful Child | Chelsea Horne

S~ “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed – a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written ‘The righteous will live by faith.’” Romans 1:16-17 (NIV)

O~ I sometimes forget that my walk with Jesus is a journey. He reveals Himself to me, piece by piece. And, even though He knows all of me already, He allows me to do the same. I forget how relational my walk with Him really is! He wants us to see Him, to know Him, and to trust Him, but for ourselves. I often get so hung up on the kind of follower I feel that I should be that I forget to surrender and ask for Jesus’ help with who I am now. As I write this, I have tears streaming down my face, because I feel His Love for me in my heart.

Grace has always been a foreign concept for me, until I met Jesus. He picked up a hurting child in a difficult situation, that didn’t know what to do with her pain— and He called her Loved.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-“ – Ephesians 2:8 (NIV)

He called her Loved despite everything that she had done. It was because He knew her, He understood her, and He saw her. She was His from the very beginning, just as I am still His now.

A~ I needed to be reminded of that little girl. The little girl that still resides within my heart. A child with bare feet, a flowing dress, and daisies in her hair. A child that knows she is Loved, and giggles at the sight of her Father’s smile.

Today, I choose to be her. I choose to trust my Father, as a Father. The good Father that He is!

P~ Father God, Thank You for blessing me with this time this morning. Thank You for waking me up just before my alarm so that I could hear this Truth from You today. We both know that it’s difficult for me to choose trust, to choose surrender. I haven’t had many experiences in my life where I have felt surrender- even to You- was an option. But, You reminded me of my Loved identity, and Loved also means protected, cared for, and taken care of. Please help me to trust You today. To trust You to take care of me and my family. For me to trust You with my child-like heart that I have buried for so long. I love You, Father!

In Jesus’ Name I pray,

Amen
