March 30, 2019 Deuteronomy 10,11; Acts 27

“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. Click HERE to go directly to the daily reading if you wish.

Overwhelming Grace | Kim Chipman

S~ For if it is the adherents of the law who are to be the heirs, faith is null and the promise is void. Romans 4:14 (ESV)

O~ Gal 3:11 Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.”

Gal 3:18 For if the inheritance comes by the law, it no longer comes by promise; but God gave it to Abraham by a promise.

Eph 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

A~ It is really hard for me to understand grace in my day to day life. I can grasp it a bit when I really step back and ponder it, but then I re-enter life and I just forget. Like grace has a compartment and doesn’t meld with the messy mundane. As a recovering do-aholic human I’m not wired to live in that grace place.

I’ve been reading the book Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist. It has been very encouraging to hear the journey of a fellow recovering do-aholic. Her message very much echoes these verses – we don’t have to earn it or perform to get it. By definition neither grace no faith need to be – or even can be – earned.

P~ Lord, thank You for the precious gift of grace. Help me remember I don’t need to earn your affection, love, grace, or approval. My brain knows, but my heart forgets. I love You!

Our team would love the privilege of praying for you! Please share how we can lift you in prayer at prayer@DiscoverOneThing.com
