“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. Click HERE to go directly to the daily reading if you wish.

S~ be careful that you do not forget the Lord who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. Deuteronomy 6:12 (NIV)

O~ In the previous verses God tells the Israelites about all the blessings they will encounter/experience without having to work for them (flourishing cities they didn’t build, houses filled with all kinds of things they didn’t provide, wells they didn’t dig, etc.); things they will use and take advantage of every day. But He cautions them to not forget Him in their contentedness.

A~ It is easy to forget God when things are going well, but these are the moments when we must keep our eyes on Him, and remember where He brought us from when things were “bad.” Nobody wants to think about the hard times, but its remembering the things that God rescued us from that keeps us humble and away from pride.

P~ Thank You, Jesus, for rescuing me from the slavery of selfishness and sin. Please help me to be careful with my thoughts and circumstances. Guard my heart against pride, and don’t let me forget my God Who rescued me.

Our team would love the privilege of praying for you! Please share how we can lift you in prayer at prayer@DiscoverOneThing.com
