March 11, 2019 Numbers 8,9; Acts 9:19b-43

“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. Follow Your Presence | Kim Chipman

S~ At the command of the Lord the people of Israel set out, and at the command of the Lord they camped. As long as the cloud rested over the tabernacle, they remained in camp. Numbers 9:18 (ESV)

O~ This passage goes on to say that sometimes the cloud rested over the Tabernacle many days, sometimes from evening until morning, could be a day or a month or a longer time, but whenever it lifted and moved they packed up and set out.

A~ Honestly, it would be nice to have such a visual thing to follow. Is this where God is leading me? I see the cloud, YES! That would be a perk. The downside would be all the moving of camp. As a military family we know a lot about picking up and moving whenever and wherever we are told. It’s not super fun. They had to be ready to pick up and go at a moments notice…or not.

The same is true about following You now, if my heart is right. This part of Your character does not change I don’t think. You can still move around and I can follow as You lead. Instead of following a physical cloud I need to quiet my heart through prayer and reading Your Word. I need to choose to be willing and obedient at any time. Ready to pick up and follow where You lead. Just as the Israelites kept their eyes on the cloud I must set my eyes on Jesus, ready to listen then follow.

P~ Lord, help me to follow You closely, wherever You lead. I am not a super fan of change, so help me to hear You clearly. I know You will never lead me down a path that isn’t in my best interest. I trust You. I need You. I love You!

God’s Growing Season | Joni Tyner

S~ After all, who is Apollos? Who is Paul? We are only God’s servants through whom you believed the Good News. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us. I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow.  It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow. The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. 1 Corinthians 3:5-8 (NLT)

O~ God’s perfect timing and plan include a variety of people and circumstances to grow a person’s faith.  It is never the result of one person’s effort.

A~ I am finding that God frequently pops a scripture into my head when I’m concerned, upset or worried. This is the case as I was sitting in church last week and heard the news that one of our pastors was leaving our church to pursue new ministry.  Tears filled my eyes for selfish reasons. I had “written” my son’s story and this pastor was part of the happy ending.  I didn’t want him to leave before I saw my prayers answered in the way I thought they should be answered.

But God.

After I had these thoughts, this scripture came to mind.   It’s never one person—it’s God using the gifts and strengths of each believer to create a  beautiful story that our human minds fail to fully understand.  I think sometimes we will know that we are part of someone’s faith journey and other times, we might not know.  That’s okay!!  It’s all of us on the same team—Team Jesus!!

P~ I pray this morning that each believer would have an increased sensitivity to the leading of Your Holy Spirit.  Lord, use ALL OF US to grow Your Kingdom!!  I ask for peace and patience in Your timing.  Thank you so much for Jay and Candance as they faithfully follow You.  I pray each seed they have planted and watered throughout their years in ministry would thrive and reproduce an abundant harvest for Your Kingdom.

Our team would love the privilege of praying for you! Please share how we can lift you in prayer at prayer@DiscoverOneThing.com
