“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. S~ Thus Moses declared to the people of Israel the appointed feasts of the Lord. Leviticus 23:44 (ESV)
O~ Chapter 23 goes through the feasts that the Lord is commanding the Israelites to observe. My study Bible notes say: ” The Sabbath principle permeates each of these feasts, which are intended to express the divine-human relationship. Each feast requires 1. cessation from ordinary work and 2. dedication to the Lord by means of offerings.” Also included are “holy convocations” which was time for public assembly for worship. The Sabbath is weekly, then there are 3 feasts in the spring and 3 feasts in the fall.
A~ While all the rules of the Old Testament get exhausting and overwhelming, I can’t help but wonder how keeping these feasts would anchor my heart. Recently I did a study on the Sabbath (Breathe by Priscilla Shirer, it was awesome!) What a gift rest is! But not just resting like lazy binge watching Netflix resting. Taking a day set apart for You resting. Cessation from ordinary work and connecting with You sort of resting.
Having these prescribed times to stop, worship, remember, meet together, and give offerings to You had to do some soul anchoring that I desperately need. The beauty of living this side of Jesus is that there aren’t so may rules, there’s lots of grace, but I see the value in these appointed feasts: the Sabbath weekly and 6 times a year. It’s so easy to drift away from you, so easy to forget. I need to remember. I need to reconnect.
P~ Lord, help me to not just study about Sabbath rest, but actually DO IT. Remembering that You knew the Israelites needed to consistently return to You helps me remember how much I need the same. It’s easy to drift, I want to connect to You, remain in You, abide in You. Draw me near. I love You!

S~ He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false. Psalm 24:4 (NIV)
O~ This is the answer of who can stand in the holy place of the Lord. Thank goodness for Jesus, otherwise, I wouldn’t be in the holy place.
A/P~ It’s so easy to sit in my comfort Lord! Day after day, night after night. It’s safe too. But stagnant for Your Kingdom. I have this idea of my next step in my walk with You. I’ve been praying about this idea, but I don’t hear anything, one way or the other. I read this saying on social media the other day: Don’t sit around to hear from God about your calling, go do something.
So God, I’m going to take the next step in this idea. Abba, check my heart on this idea! Abba, give me clean hands and a pure heart, who does not life up her soul to an idol or swear by what is false, regarding this idea. May all of this idea and action from here on out be rooted in Jesus and glory for His Kingdom! In His Name I pray!

S~ As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard. Acts 4:20 (NIV)
O~ Peter and John say they cannot help speaking about what they’ve seen and heard.
A~ I’m convicted by this passage. Peter and John are so full of the Holy Spirit they can’t help but speak of the these miracles they have seen – they can’t help but talk about Jesus. And yet, here I sit, trying to bring Your presence with me, but I’m not really doing anything about it. I’m not speaking about it, but partially because I haven’t asked You what to talk about. It’s not that I don’t have anything to talk about, I mean, Hello! You ROSE FROM THE GRAVE! But what things do You long to show me today – in this day and age – that I’m not seeing because I’m not asking – because my faith is small.
Perhaps, I too, have become too comfortable with You. I need to go back to the prayer closet – to be intentional about praying, seeking Your face, and listening for Your voice. I must You to move mountains. How can I expect to have stories to tell when I haven’t asked You for BIG things? Why am I not praying for miracles?! There is no sickness in heaven, there’s no death there – that is what it means to bring heaven to earth; You are making things new, as they are in heaven – always revealing what is too come, what You are inviting us all into.
P~ Oh Lord, help me to be bold in my prayer life. Help me to have the kind of faith that moves mountains, that I might say to a mountain jump and it does! Help me to not doubt, but to only believe, so that when You do it, I can say, “My God did that. Do you know Him? Let me introduce you.”
