February 25, 2019 Leviticus 9,10; Matthew 25

“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. Click HERE to go directly to the daily reading if you wish.

Well Done | Marisa Hartman

S~ His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ Matthew 25:21 (NIV)

O~ Jesus is using this parable to teach his followers about what it will be like when He returns. Each of us has been given gifts (talent, time, money) to use for the Kingdom, “each according to his ability.” (vs. 15) If we use those gifts wisely, we will get to hear the sweet voice of Jesus telling us well done.

A~ In my life there have been seasons of plenty and seasons of very little. As I read through this passage, I understand that God was only giving what I could be responsible with. The issue has never been how much I have, but how well I use what I have. When Jesus returns, I want to be able to stand confidently before Him knowing that I’ve done everything in my power to honor Him and further His kingdom and not my own. In the times of struggle it’s tempting to whine and ask, “why me?” It’s in those hard times though, that He’s teaching me to rely on HIM and trust in His sovereignty. When I sit with Him, and listen to His teaching I understand. When I try to figure everything out on my own, I fail. When I’m thinking only of myself, I fail. When I trust Him, and rely on Him, things work out. Oftentimes, things don’t go as I would plan them but, He does always provide.

P~ Lord, the prayer of my heart is to one day hear, “Well Done” from you. Please give me the wisdom to use my gift and abilities as You would like. I am so very blessed and You are the source of everything good. I adore You. Amen
