“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. Missing the greatest thing | guest post

S~ …and He went and lived in a town called Nazareth.  So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets: “He will be called a Nazarene.”  ~ Matthew 2:23 (NIV)

O~ Matthew 2 reveals three prophecies fulfilled about Jesus’ younger years: He would be born in Bethlehem, be called out of Egypt, and be despised/rejected/disdained by His peers.  ‘He will be called a Nazarene’ isn’t in the Old Testament, but Matthew knew what being a Nazarene meant.  Nazarenes were despised, rejected, looked down upon, not worthy.

It seems that the teachers of the law were so busy plotting to kill Jesus, they never stopped to ask Him about His childhood.  Jesus, where were you born?  Where did you grow up?  Surely, the teachers of the law studied the Scriptures so much they would know what was predicted about the Messiah.  In my mind, these leaders could have asked Jesus a few questions and disproved Him as the Messiah.

But because of their pride, the religious leaders missed the Greatest thing in the whole universe.  They couldn’t even see the One that they were trained on for their whole life.

A/P~ Abba, search my heart and see if their is any offensive thing about me!  Reveal pride, arrogance, sin, any where that I’m missing Jesus!  As I read this story, I don’t want to be like the religious leaders and miss Jesus!  I pray this in His Name!

Our team would love the privilege of praying for you! Please share how we can lift you in prayer at prayer@DiscoverOneThing.com
