“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. Click HERE to go directly to the daily reading if you wish.

Act From Fear | Kim Chipman

S~ Eventually, a new king came to power in Egypt who knew nothing about Joseph or what he had done. Exodus 1:8 (NIV)

O~ Joseph worked with integrity for Pharaoh. This new king didn’t have any history or relationship with Joseph which made him afraid this Israelites were going to take over so he made them all slaves.

A~ How often does my lack of knowledge lead me to make decisions based in fear? This king probably could have easily found out that Joseph and the Israelites weren’t going to take over. But he didn’t. He acted on what his perceptions were and his fear about where that would lead.

I know I act from a place of limited knowledge mixed with fear at times. I’m not so sure that’s the best way to make decisions.

P~ Lord, help me to watch for this pattern in my life. Help me see when I’m responding from fear. Help me to ask questions and seek wisdom and understanding. Help my decisions – especially about how I treat others – to glorify You. I love You!
