December 21, 2018 Zechariah 1-3; Luke 16

“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. Click HERE to go directly to the daily reading if you wish.

S~ Now here’s a surprise: The master praised the crooked manager! And why? Because he knew how to look after himself. Streetwise people are smarter in this regard than law-abiding citizens. They are on constant alert, looking for angles, surviving by their wits. I want you to be smart in the same way – but for what is right – using ever adversity to stimulate you to creative survival, to concentrate your attention on the bare essentials, so you’ll live, really live, and not complacently just get by on good behavior.” Luke 16:8-9 (MSG)

O~ Don’t be complacent, don’t just get by laying low and living comfortably. Look for opportunities. Look for angles in events and conversations to focus on the bare essentials of life – ME, Jesus!

A~ I’ve been thinking about my life a lot, and whether or not it makes for a good story. And honestly, it’s kind of boring. Safe, comfortable, and boring. Perhaps it is because I’ve finally slowed down enough to actually think about my life and what You might have for me if I am willing to take a step of faith – to risk my safe and comfortable life for the adventure novel You wrote for me. What would it look like, if I took everything You’ve taught me, everything I’ve learned and experienced combined with the gifts You put in me and risked it all for the Kingdom?

Far from boring.

But can I do it?

P~ Jesus, I want to. I know there’s more You have for me. Help me to believe there’s more.
