“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. YOU Are My Help | Kim Chipman
S~ I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1,2 (NIV)
O~ YOU are my help.
A~ A couple things I notice today:
- Lifting my eyes to the mountains – I can see You all around me in creation. There may not be mountains here in Nebraska, but there are beautiful sunrises/sunsets, rolling hills and gorgeous countryside. All creation points to You and Your majesty. I can see it and appreciate it each day. I can allow it to draw me to You.
- YOU are my help. Not my family and friends (but they are super great and I couldn’t survive without them!), not money, not comfort, not escape from stress, or even a beach house. YOU are my help.
P~ Lord, turn my heart to You in those times I feel overwhelmed. Turn my heart to You in all times, regardless of my feelings, which are so untrustworthy. I need You, but confess that I try to find help in other places at times. Only You can truly meet my needs. I love You!
All People are Invited! | Joni Tyner
S~ And people will come from all over the world-from east and west, north and south- to take their places in the Kingdom of God. And note this: Some who seem least important now will be the great then, and some who are the greatest now will be least important then. ~Jesus teaching in Luke 13:29 (NLT)
O~ Earlier in chapter 13 Jesus is teaching that salvation and entrance into heaven isn’t by simply being around the church and participating in activities that appear righteous and holy. He reminds us that some of the least important people will be first and those who look religious might not be what they appear to be.
A~ I am to eager to worship one day in heaven with God’s family. I can’t even wrap my mind around the beauty and love of hearing the celebrations from people of every nation, every tongue, every generation. It will be so beautiful…and sincere. All the self-serving religious zealots will be weeded out and the truest form of love will be at the table in heaven. I have shared this video before, but I really love how it shows that everyone is invited to come. Here it is:
P~ Dear Lord, please give me eyes to see people like You do. I want to care more about people than religious activity, I want to do more than just acknowledge them, I want to bring them to You! I ask for a double portion of discernment about how to best do that with each person I interact with. Thank you for this people glimpse into the window of Heaven.
