“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. Click HERE to go directly to the daily reading if you wish.

Sacrificial Giving | Kim Chipman

S~ They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on. Mark 12:44 (NIV)

O~ Jesus held in esteem the widow’s sacrificial giving above others’ giving of their excess. The amount didn’t matter, the sacrifice mattered.

A~ I’m working through a Bible study right now called 7: An Experimental Mutiny of Excess. It explores 7 areas of our life that quite often in America we have in excess: food, clothing, possessions, media, spending, waste and stress. In the spirit of a fast we take time in each of these areas and sacrifice comfort in order to draw closer to You.

This verse reminds me of this heart place. Obviously this very poor widow had very little, but she gave everything. In Mark 10 Jesus encourages a rich man to sell everything he has and give it to the poor and follow Him, but he won’t.

You clearly value sacrificial giving. You want our heart to be tethered to You, not our stuff.

P~ Lord, help me to give from a place of sacrifice not just comfort. Help me to honor You with my life, my thoughts, my heart, I love You!

Our team would love the privilege of praying for you! Please share how we can lift you in prayer at
