“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. What is First? | Joni Tyner
S~ Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray. Later Simon and the others went out to find him. When they found him, they said, “Everyone is looking for you.” Mark 1: 35-36 (NLT)
O~ Jesus demonstrates the perfect balance of serving others and spending solitude time with his Father.
A~ In today’s reading I see Jesus being compassionate and healing people by serving many people and working into the night. I’m sure he was tired, yet, the next day, He got up and went to pray and spend solitude time with His Father. It was important to FIRST seek time with the Father before the business of the day. I know this is important yet I often neglect to start my day out in this way. I tend to stay in bed until the last moment and rush around and try and get out of the door. I need to remember that quiet time with my Jesus is so vitally important to my spiritual growth. I really desire to model Jesus’s example in this scripture.
P~ Dear Lord, please use me in a way that gives You glory and builds Your kingdom. I pray that seeking You first is instinctive to me, I want it to be essential to my days, not an elective activity that I squeeze in when a pause allows. I’m so sorry I haven’t made this the priority that You ask of me, I ask that Your Holy Spirit would fill me with a burning desire to first spend time with You.
