A Choice | Joni Tyner

S~ They do not fear bad news;

They confidently trust the Lord to care for them.

They are confident and fearless

And can face their foes triumphantly.

They share freely and give generously to those in need.

Their good deeds will be remembered forever.

They will have influence and honor.  Psalm 112:7-9 (NLT)

And a great earthquake struck—the worst since people were placed on the earth.  Revelation 16:18 (NLT)

O~ Today’s reading has two very different outcomes.  In Psalms, we see the rewards of trusting God and living a life of faithfulness. ( I didn’t repost the entire Psalm, but it tells of amazing blessings when we trust the Lord.)

In Revelation, (again, I didn’t post the entire chapter) but goodness, that is NOT what I want to experience.  NO WAY.  God gives us free will and we have a choice to follow and trust Him or turn to our own desires and omit God from our lives.

A~  As I read Psalm 112 this morning, I thought it sounds almost “too good to be true”,  I’m not sure if we will experience all of these blessings on this side of heaven, but I think we can know and trust God to love and care for us in the absolutely best possible way.  And,  Revelation is not something I want myself or anyone I know to experience.  I don’t have to understand the meaning of all of the bowls and plagues and scrolls to understand that God is a just God and there are consequences to turning away from Him.

My application of today’s reading is– I choose Jesus.

P~ Dear Lord, I’m still baffled by much of the reading in Revelation, but I am learning more about You through reading the Bible.  I see LOVE and FORGIVENESS and satisfaction that comes with a life that seeks You.   Please continue to open my eyes to scripture and help me understand the main points,   I ask for a heart that seeks to bring others to You.  I also ask that you would grow my faith so that my life reflects the believer described in Psalm 112.

It Is Done | Marisa Tomlinson

S~ The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and out of the temple came a loud voice from the throne, saying, ‘It is done!’ Revelation 16:17 (NIV)

O~ God has a plan for everything. Revelation talks about the end of the earth and the beginning of a new heaven and earth. It’s reassuring to know that He has all of time mapped out for us.

A~ God will punish the unrepentant, but His plan is to call us ALL to Him. The bowls poured out on the earth in chapter 16 of Revelation are poured on those that refused to turn to God. It’s like having kids. You can only warn them so many times before punishment is delivered.  When God says, “it is done” in verse 17, it means His wrath is finished. When Jesus was on the cross, He also said “it is finished.”

“When he had received the drink, Jesus said, ‘It is finished.’ With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.” John 19:30 (NIV)

God’s design is that we are all reconciled to Him through Jesus’ sacrifice. God’s plan has been mapped out since the beginning of time. He knows what every one of us will do, is capable of, and has a plan for us. That is so comforting! As much as I want to, I don’t have to have everything all planned out. In fact, I need to rely on Him. His ways are better than anything I could come up with, He’s proven that to me. Letting go of my plan is the hard part.

P~ God, forgive me for trying to make my own plans. Thank you for mapping everything out for us so that we can rest in You. Thank you for the promise that You will bring your plan to completion and bring us all home. I look forward to that day.
