Wait Quietly | Kimi Miller

S~ I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. Psalm 62:1 (NLT)

O~ Victory: an act of defeating an enemy or opponent in a battle, game, or competition.

It’s taken me a long time to learn how to be quiet before You. Too often, I forget that the battle is not against flesh and blood {but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world powers of this darkness, against evil, spiritual forces in the heavens (Eph. 6:12)}, and I direct my focus at the wrong thing. People and words come against me, and I take up offense at the person and hurtful words, rather than keep my eyes on You. Focusing my eyes on You gives me greater perspective – a heavenly view.

A~ When I quiet myself before You, I find clarity. I find peace of mind and heart. You help me sift through the confusion, and find Truth. You help me to release the offense so I can take hold of Your Words of Life.

It’s not always easy to do – especially in the pace of this world. That is why You pull me closer in those times I try to pull away. That is why You say, “Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace” (Matt. 11:28-30 MSG).

When I turn away from my opposition and turn to You, I find victory.

P~ I’m sorry for the amount of times it takes for me to “get it.” To get that it’s not up to me to fight my battles, and that You aren’t too busy to help, and that everything I face matters to You – regardless of how small or big I think it is, it’s all important to You. I know I won’t ever fully comprehend Your love for me on this side of heaven, but I’m so grateful for the glimpses You give me. I love You, Jesus.

Bowing Down | John Deases

S~ “As the new heavens and the new earth that I make will endure before me,” declares the LORD, “so will your name and descendants endure. From one New Moon to another and from one Sabbath to another, all mankind will come and bow down before me,” says the LORD.  Isaiah 66:22-23 (NIV)

O~ It appears these Scriptures are talking about the life to come. All mankind will come and bow down before the Lord. There is coming a day when the Lord will be honored for all of eternity. But for now, there are some who refuse to humble themselves and give God his proper recognition. Unfortunately, it will not go well for that group who refuses to surrender their will here and now.

A~ Bowing down before the Lord signifies worship. We all worship something. These Scriptures tell us we should be aware of a future event, the bowing down before the Lord. I bow down before the Lord to give Him the honor due His name. I didn’t always bow down before the Lord. There was a time when I bowed down to other gods: good times, alcohol, traveling, and so many more.  These gods or idols allowed for false worship.  I was negligent in my basic responsibility as a created being.

P~ Lord, Help me to honor You all the days of my life. Help me to bow down to You alone, Lord.
