S~ She carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness. Proverbs 31:27 (NLT)

O~ In the Contemporary English Version: She takes good care of her family and is never lazy.

A~ If I’m really honest, I’ve not taken the best care of my family. My own selfish desires and distractions have kept my very best from them, and what they’ve often received from me was whatever was leftover. Now that I’ve had time to rest and reflect, I can see that so clearly now. I’ve spent so many years running after distractions of what I thought I was supposed to be doing, and I neglected the most precious things You entrusted me to care for.

And while busyness has been my greatest obstacle, laziness runs a close second – especially if laziness can be defined as “I don’t feel like it,” or “I don’t want to,” (queue Netflix binge…).

But in my heart I really DO want to take good care of my family and I don’t want to be lazy. I want to choose them over me and my selfish tendencies. And that’s the thing, I have a choice. I need to become more aware of my thoughts and patterns so that I can take those things captive, and begin following Your desires over mine.

And while this transformation isn’t going as quickly as I’d like it to, I know You are changing me from the inside out.

P~ Forgive me, Lord. Help me to take good care of my loved ones. Thank You for this season of rest – for slowing my life down, so I could see what I’ve been missing. Forgive me for the times I allow my feelings to dictate my actions. Help me to be present in each moment – making the most of all of it. Please help me to be wise in my choices and diligent in my responsibilities. Change my heart, Lord. Less of me and more of You…for them, Jesus.
