Hope Again | Kimi Miller
S~ Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life. Proverbs 13:12 (NIV)
O~ If something is deferred it means that it is put off to a later time or postponed. If you there’s no hope in the present, then it’s no wonder your heart is sick.
A~ Two days ago I awoke with this verse in my head. But I’ve never memorized it in its entirety, nor did I know where to find it, so I did a quick Google search to find it (which is how I find most verses I can’t quite remember). For some reason, I’ve had no problem recalling the first part of this verse, but until this day when I looked it up, I had no idea the second half, “but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.”
I have been in my own season of deferred hope. But I didn’t recognize it as that, I only know my heart felt sick. I’ve been afraid to dream or even acknowledge longings in my heart. I realize now I had been putting off my hope, but on this particular morning I felt You encouraging me to dream again.
Sometimes when our dreams don’t pan out as we think they should or thought they would, we hold future dreams a little closer – afraid to show them to anyone – let alone breathe life into them by acknowledging them ourselves. That’s where I was. I didn’t want to even think about it.
But not dreaming, not moving towards my heart’s desire, was leaving me…hopeless…heart sick.
But a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.
I think it is time for me to dream again. To press in to You and ask You to show me what dreams You have for me. I think it’s time to hope again.
P~ Lord, I believe You have great plans for me and my life. Help me with my unbelief.
