“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. Just be quiet already | Marisa Hartman
S~ The wise in heart accept commands, but a chattering fool comes to ruin. Proverbs 10:8 (NIV)
O/A~ As I continue to process the upheaval of my life it feels like my mind keeps chattering on and on about “what if”and “how do I know.” I’m finding it hard to quiet my emotions and just listen to God’s voice. When I do remember to listen, I get impatient to hear from Him and after only a few moments of silence, begin the chatter in my mind again. I know and fully believe that God loves me and has plans to work everything for my good. I’m so impatient to see how. I’m hurt and lonely and want everything to be fixed and better. I know that He is walking with me. I just need to finally be quiet long enough to hear His commands.
P~ Lord, thank you for patiently walking with me. I feel your calming spirit. Thank you for listening as I chatter on and on like a frustrated child. Please open my ears and quiet my tongue so that I can truly hear your commands. Thank you for the guidance you offer and for never giving up on me.
Be Humble | Kim Chipman
S~ Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. Proverbs 11:2(NIV)
O~ I’ve heard it said that to be humble “isn’t to think less of yourself, but to think of yourself less”.
Yesterday I saw a commercial with Michael Phelps in it. He was talking about things he would tell his younger self. That got me thinking about what I would tell my younger self. The very first thing that came to mind was BE HUMBLE. Don’t think you need to look like you have it together all the time and know it all. Don’t be afraid to ask. Then listen. Learn. (with humility comes wisdom) You are both infinitely valuable and simultaneously not all that important. The world both needs your contribution and does not revolve around you. There are some things that I’m really good at and some stuff I’m not and that’s ok!
A~ As I read this verse today and think back on yesterday I realize that this message isn’t just for my younger self. It’s for my 47 year old self, too.
P~ Lord, help me to keep my focus off me and on You. I love You!
