Fear of the Lord | Kelley Deases

S~ I know that You can do all things; no plan of Yours can be thwarted. Job 42:2 (NIV)

O~ After hearing the Lord’s audible voice “out of the storm” (Chapter 40) Job is completely humbled and can only utter words acknowledging God’s total power and absolute omnipotence. He no longer demands an audience from God nor seeks to plead his case.

A~ Oftentimes my own approach to God is too casual, too familiar, far short of the fearsome awe He demands from His created. Job completely changes his tune, from a man of many words to a man of very few. This reminds me of just Who it is I am praying to, answering to, and dealing with — The Almighty God, the Alpha and the Omega, ….

P~ Heavenly Father, Please teach me daily to live in the proper state of reverence and awe of You.

Patiently Endure | Kim Chipman

S~ For God is pleased with you when you do what you know is right and patiently endure unfair treatment. 1 Peter 2:19 (NLT)

O~ Peter is teaching about how we should conduct ourselves in the midst of suffering. He teaches we should respect authority…respect everyone actually. And not only when rulers or masters are being fair and honest and honorable ‘but even if they are cruel” v18.

A~ I have 4 children ranging in age right now from 9 (almost 10) to 15. One VERY common argument I hear is…”IT’S NOT FAIR!” And quite honestly, I agree! Life isn’t always fair. In general, thankfully, the ‘suffering’ we endure in our little American bubble is nothing close to what many face in the world. As my 12 year old would say, “First world problems!”

But, the fact is, I’m super selfish. I like it when things go my way. I feel entitled to FAIR. You have been speaking to my heart for some time about blame, personal responsibility, entitlement, expectations…how I view these things and how it impacts my relationship with You…You weren’t treated fairly. You didn’t get what You deserved. You patiently endured unfair treatment. If my life is going to look more like Yours then I need to grown in this area.

The fact is: I’m not entitled to an easy, comfortable, narcissistic life. The world does not – and should not – revolve around ME but YOU. and if I’m genuinely serving others with a heart to glorify You then patiently enduring discomfort and inconvenience…dying to myself, my selfish, pride-filled self…trusting You as the ultimate judge…focused on making choices to glorify You and let You be God over the rest…Trusting You, resting in You is pleasing to You.

P~ Help me to honor You by doing my part to **patiently** endure and let You handle others. Even when it is unfair. Even when I’m right. Help me to honor You by following You, trusting You, imitating You, and reflecting You. I love you.

Our team would love the privilege of praying for you! Please share how we can lift you in prayer at
