August 21, 2018 Job 19; Hebrews 12:14-29

“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. Click HERE to go directly to the daily reading if you wish.

S~ Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy;without holiness no one will see the Lord. Hebrews 12:14 (NIV)

O~ What does it mean to be holy? A quick google search led me HERE: “Moral purity is not first. Instead, the most basic meaning of the word is to be “set apart” or “dedicated” to God – to belong to God. Thus, prior to any consideration of morality, biblical holiness describes a unique relationship that God has established and desires with His people.” Then, behavior follows.

A~ This brings me back to my verse yesterday and to “throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles”.

If I want people to see You, and I do want that, I need to make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy. To be set apart. Dedicated to You. To belong to You. Then behave accordingly.

I just found out, minutes before sitting down with You this morning, that a close friend of mine died suddenly from a massive stroke. She was a believer so I’m rejoicing that she’s with You. It has me questioning pretty much everything about my life. If I died tomorrow is this the legacy I want to leave? Am I doing what You put me here to do? Is my focus on the right things? Do people know You more because of me?

P~ Lord, help me to be holy. Set apart for You. Help my life to bring You glory. Help others to see You through me somehow even though I’m kind of a mess. Please be with Missy’s family as they mourn her very sudden, unexpected passing. Her husband and her children will miss her deeply. I love You

Our team would love the privilege of praying for you! Please share how we can lift you in prayer at
