August 17, 2018 Job 15; Hebrews 10:19-39

“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. Click HERE to go directly to the daily reading if you wish.

Hard Words | Luisa Penaherrera

S~ Job, chapter 15  (Eliphaz the Temanite’s response to Job)

O~ This was Job’s friend.  Yes his friend.  You wouldn’t think so by all the things he is saying to Job.  But nonetheless he was Job’s friend and thought he was helping.

A~ This reminds me that as much as I think I know about a person’s life or situation, I am not God, and I don’t know everything.  From this I also learn that I need to bring my thoughts to God and pray for the person and seek his wisdom in order to truly help someone.

P~ Heavenly Father, thank you for friends who are willing to say the hard things to me. Please give me discernment to know what is from you and what is not, and to know when to say something and what to say. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Hold On For The Ride | Kim Chipman

S~ Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23 (NIV)

You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. Hebrews 10:36 (NIV)

O~ 1 Peter 2:20b But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God.

2 Chronicles 15:7 But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.

Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Life is a marathon, not a sprint.

A~ There are days (or sometimes weeks/months/years) that it’s easy to be discouraged. To get weary. To swerve. To drift. What a sweet reminder – DON’T GIVE UP! Persevere! Hold unswervingly! Your promises are true even if I don’t see them…yet.

P~ Oh how I needed to hear this today. Just because it’s hard doesn’t mean I’m doing it wrong. Give me perseverance. Be my strength and anchor. You are faithful. Find me faithful. I love You
