“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. S~ I have become a laughingstock to my friends, though I called upon God and He answered – a mere laughingstock, though righteous and blameless. Job 12:4 (NIV)

O~ Right here in this moment Job knows two things:  he is righteous and blameless, and he is a laughingstock because of his situation.  His situation in life is not matching his faith in God.  I’m wondering if Job believes that faith in God means nothing bad will ever happen to him.

A~ The real truth is that I’m righteous and blameless in the eyes of God.  Not because of me, but because of the precious blood of Jesus.  Thank You Jesus!  This truth will NEVER change!

It also doesn’t mean I could become a laughingstock either.  My righteousness in Christ does not exclude me from the pain and suffering of this world.

Even though I know this, I have a fear that creeps out when everything is going well in life.  (Going well is super fluid; one day it means everyone is getting along, the next day it could mean I had a great night’s sleep.)  This fear when things are going well is that something will happen in my life, like what happened to Job.

This fear has often held me back in moments of life in being fully present.  It’s like I’m always waiting for the shoe to drop.  When I fear, I’m not fully trusting Jesus.  This spirit of fear is not from God either.

P~ Father, thanks for taking this fear I’ve had awhile and putting it into words that I understand.  Lord, now that it’s on paper, remove this fear and give me a spirit of power!  I desire my feet to be grounded in truth and all part of me, even my emotions, rooted in Christ!  I pray this in Jesus’ Name!

Permanently Forgiven | Joni Tyner

S~ But instead, these sacrifices actually reminded them of their sins year after year.  Hebrew 10:3 (NLT)

O~ This scripture is referring the Day of Atonement when the people gathered and were reminded of their sins each year. ( I got this from my Bible notes)  They did not receive forgiveness like we do when we have placed our faith in Christ.

A~ This is another scripture that reminds me how loved I am by Jesus.  There is no unforgiveness, shame or guilt from my past because I have accepted accept Jesus as my Lord.   He has paid the price of all my past, present and future sins and there is no more record of it.  “But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.” 1 John 1:9

P~ Dear Lord, thank you for this reminder this evening that I am completely forgiven by You and there is no more guilt.  I have a clean slate and I celebrate this with joy in my heart.  I love You.
