But Quite The Opposite Happened | Kimi Miller

S~  So on March 7 the two decrees of the king were put into effect. On that day, the enemies of the Jews had hoped to overpower them, but quite the opposite happened. It was the Jews who overpowered their enemies.  Esther 9:1 (NLT)

O~  Although God is never mentioned in the entire book of Esther, I can see Your hand in all of it. Even here. A certain outcome was expected, but “quite the opposite happened.”

A~  Oh the weight (and wait!) of expectations! I’ve had several experiences in my life where I expected things to go a certain way, and then they didn’t. I’ve always been one to work towards the next thing – that way, I can make it to the next thing after that. But You’ve led me into this beautiful season of “wait and see.” Before, I would watch to see if things were lining up as I thought they should, but now, I’m much more dependent on You. I’m letting go of my own expectations, and learning to trust you more and more. I’m not exactly sure where I thought I’d be right now – with a job or content in a season of rest. Looking back on these brief six months since I left my position at work, I think I thought I’d be doing the rest thing – but more so to put the check in the box. Like, “Okay, did my time resting, now on to the next thing.” But quite the opposite has happened. You have slowed my pace and softened my heart. Simply being content and enjoying life is becoming a bit more natural for me – something I’d never thought would happen. For the first time, I have time to give…freely. Not out of obligation, but out LOVE. I’m learning to actually live in the moment – even though my attention span isn’t quite where I’d like it to be yet! 😉 I’ve applied for a couple jobs here and there, but I’m no longer in a rush to fill my time with busyness. I’m learning that You are doing something deeper in my heart; although it doesn’t feel that way – like I don’t feel I’m making progress in the day-to-day – and I don’t feel like I’m moving forward – quite the opposite has happened.

P~ Jesus, thank You for being so patient with me. Thank You for knowing what is best EVERY.TIME. I love You.

Our team would love the privilege of praying for you! Please share how we can lift you in prayer at
