August 5, 2018 Nehemiah 10,11; Hebrews 4:1-13

“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. Click HERE to go directly to the daily reading if you wish.

The Word | guest post

S~ For the word of God is living and active.  Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.  ~ Hebrews 4:12 (NIV)

O~ The Word of God has many names: Scripture, the Bible, the law, Jesus, the Sword of the Spirit, the last piece of spiritual armor.

A~ I’m studying the armor of God with my small group and I’m so thankful for the teacher!  I’m not very far into the study and haven’t studied the Sword of the Spirit yet, but look how POWERFUL God’s Word is!

The Word is alive, and it moves!

…so is My Word that goes out from My mouth: It will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. ~ Isaiah 55:11

It’s so sharp it can divide my soul and my spirit.  I’m not 100% of what that means, so I get another picture – the act of cutting marrow out of a bone.  That would need a really sharp knife!  And a skilled hand!

And the Word takes my thoughts and attitude and exposes them to truth!  And so now the work of taking my thoughts and attitudes and exposing them to truth.

P~ Father, prepare my heart as compare my thoughts and attitudes against Your Word!

Our team would love the privilege of praying for you! Please share how we can lift you in prayer at
