“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. Give As Much As You Can | Kimi Miller
S~ and each leader gave as much as he could… Ezra 2:69a(NLT)
O~ In the previous verse: When they arrived at the Temple of the LORD in Jerusalem, some of the family leaders made voluntary offerings toward the rebuilding of God’s temple on its original site.
A/P~ I want to give You as much as I can. Help me to give out of obedience and not out of obligation. Help me to give with a cheerful heart – with unconditional love and without expectation. Keep working in my heart, Lord. For I know You are doing something new! I love You – help my life to show that.
Forgiveness | Chelsea Horne
S~ But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. And I was delivered from the lion’s mouth. 2 Timothy 4:17 (NIV)
O~ Our free will never succeeds God’s Will. No matter what I choose, it is never a surprise to God. He is never flustered, never caught off guard, and never anxious. Because He knows me, all of me, there is nothing that I, or anyone else, can do to mess up His Plan. Everything is a part of His Plan. I need to remember this.
In my battle with depression of days long past, I can find hope and peace in the Truth that God used it for His Good, His Glory. I may not have been able to see it then, and it’s ok if I don’t see it now, but the important thing is to find rest in His Arms.
Through all of the trials in my life, God was always there. I only needed to speak Jesus’ Name, and He was there. He enveloped me in His Love and Peace. Whether I cried out to Him at the top of my lungs, in a whisper, or simply in my heart, He always showed up. I was never alone on the nights that I cried myself to sleep, because He held my heart as I wept. He sent me gifts to put a smile on my face when all hope of love and happiness was gone. The day that I felt a cool mist cover my face, when there was not a single cloud in the sky, just before my family joined me outside.
He knows when His sheep are hurting. He hears when we cry out to Him from what feels like hundreds of miles away. He knows when we wander off, because He is with us each step of the way.
What my parents chose, and choose, to do and be is out of my control. I cannot change their hearts, but God can. He is the only One Who can. The things that they chose to do and say was never beyond His Sight, He saw everything, and grieved far more than I did. He loves them, just like He loves me. I can only imagine what He felt, being their Father, based on what I felt as their daughter.
I want to forgive them. I want to see them as God does. See their beautiful hearts, not what the enemy has made me to see. They are under his influence, but they are also in God’s Hands. There is no safer place for them to be, than in God’s Hands.
A&P~ Lord Jesus, Please help me to forgive my parents. Teach me and open my eyes and heart to love them and see them as You do. I relinquish my shields from them into Your Hands, Father. They were erected in the name of self-protection, but I see now that they also prevented me from not only trusting You but also from me loving them as You have called me to. I pray for their hearts, God. That You will show them what the enemy is doing, and help them to turn to You. If it is in Your Will, please free them from their chains that he has shackled them with that has hardened their hearts.
I know that forgiveness is not a feeling, it’s a choice. A choice to look past what they have done and love them for who they truly are, Your children. And my brothers and sisters. Please help me to see past what they have done, to me and to others, and show me who they are to You. Open my heart to love them as You do, and help me to remember that anything that does not come from You in them is the enemy.
I pray, Lord, that You will free them from what he has done to them. He had imprisoned them in their own hurt and bondage from their parents. Please heal their bleeding and broken hearts, in Jesus’ Name. Please give them rest, and Love them where their parents didn’t. Show them that they are loved and cherished by You, Father. I see the hurt in their hearts, and I don’t want to hate them for it anymore! Protect my heart, Lord, as I know the enemy will seek to hurt me through them again. But You are infinitely stronger than him, and only You can help us heal from his schemes and break the cycle. Please help me to break the cycle.
I pray all of these things in Jesus’ Name,
