Do Your Best | Kim Chipman

S~ Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15 (NIV)

O~ I remember this verse from when my kids were in AWANA. AWANA stands for “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed”. When my kids were in AWANA I was at a time in my life that God’s Word was becoming real and alive to me as well. I know God used their time in this program, and me “helping” them (or was it them helping me!?) to draw me closer to Him and grow my understanding.

A~ But what about now? Do your best, Kim, to correctly handle the word of truth. My study Bible says, ” we should build our lives on His Word and build His Word into our lives…Consistent and diligent study of God’s Word is vital; otherwise we will be lulled into neglecting God and our true purpose for living.” This is a continual process.

I’ve noticed many parallels in physical and spiritual health. One big one that stands out is that neither is a “once and done” sort of journey. I can’t get healthy and strong – in either – then stop doing the work and stay that way. I just doesn’t work like that.

If I’m going to do my best then every single day, every choice, every little thing, it all matters. Correctly handling the truth isn’t just knowing the truth, it’s doing what it says, too.

P~ Lord, help me to DO what you say, not just KNOW what You say. Help me to do my best for You, like really do my very best, no excuses, justifications or procrastination. It all counts, every little thing. I love You!
