Sincere Faith (in Jesus) | Kim Chipman

S~ The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. 1 Timothy 1:5 (NIV)

O~ This paragraph specifically addresses false teachers, but it reminds me of a conversation I recently had with a friend of mine that I’ve been mulling over ever since. We talked about how churches are often better at developing people devoted to their church than to Jesus. Then, if they get hurt or have a disagreement they leave the church…AND Jesus (because who were they really following?). They walk away from the whole thing, sometimes never to return.

To me that seems like false doctrine somewhere. The goal is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. Sincere faith IN JESUS, not in an organization.

A~ So. Ugh. What am I doing to genuinely grow devoted disciples of Jesus? I know in my heart You have called me to create Bible readers. Am I doing this well? Am I living out Your call on my life? Boldly? Like, REALLY?

In church on Sunday our pastor talked about doing things that are uncomfortable to truly impact the world for You. Am I willing to do that? Or am I staying in my cozy little comfortable bubble?

P~ Lord, I hear You. Please lead me and show me HOW to be a good disciple and also HOW to lead others. I want to grow fervent followers of YOU – not followers of me or my church. Please guide me. I’m listening. I love You!
