Ready for Attack | Joni Tyner
S~ But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. And we are confident in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we commanded you. 2 Thessalonians 3:3-4 (NLT)
O~ Paul is the writer of Thessalonians and is giving additional instruction on the second coming of Christ.
A~ As I thought about the context of Paul giving instructions about how to live as we wait for Christ to return, it all comes down to consistency and faithfulness. Keep doing the things we started doing when we first became believers. It’s a simple formula—be faithful. Our faith isn’t like an I Phone that is coming out with new features and upgrades every so often so that we can be current. It is timeless and simple… we are to continue to do the things God has instructed us to do. God’s part is to give us strength as the enemy attack. We do this by seeking Him. Other tips from my Bible notes:
- Take spiritual attack seriously.
- Pray for strength in the battle
- Study the Bible so we can recognize Satan’s attacks.
- Memorize scripture to it is always available to help us, no matter where we are.
- Associate with others who speak the truth
- Practice your faith—be humble to the teaching of strong spiritual leaders.
P~ Dear Lord, please infuse me with Your strength, give me eyes to see the enemy’s attacks, they aren’t people, help me always know that! I pray you give me a love of scripture memory, I don’t have that spiritual discipline and I know it is a valuable tool for fighting the enemy. Thank you for your faithfulness to me when I am anything but faithful. I love You.
Character of God | guest post
S~ But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. 2 Thessalonians 3:3 (NIV)
O~ Here is another characteristic of God. He is faithful.
A~ Faithful: steadfast in affection or allegiance, loyal, firm in adherence to promises, given with strong assurance, true to the facts, full of faith. 2 Timothy 2:13 says, if we are faithless, He will remain faithful, for He cannot disown Himself.
Today I’m full of awe that this is who God is. That the Lord is steadfast in affection toward me, even when I’m not steadfast in affection for Him. That alone makes me unworthy. But there is something about me that makes God ‘firm in adherence to His promises.’
But it’s not really me, it’s Jesus in me. When God sees me, He sees Jesus and because He’s God, he cannot disown Himself. So He is faithful to me always and forever. Trusting and growing in Jesus has been the two best things of my life. I am so thankful!
P~ Father, thank You for Your Son! Please don’t let me go a single day not recognizing who and what Jesus has done in my life! I love You!
