My Temple | Kim Chipman

S~ This must be a magnificent Temple because our God is greater than all other gods. 2 Chronicles 2:5 (NLT)

O~ Solomon is beginning the work to build the Temple as instructed by David (who passed along the plan God had given him).

A~ I have long struggled with Kings and Chronicles. Clearly, anything in the Bible is important, but every time I read through I hope to gain some insight into what is so crucial in these passages that You would record it all TWICE.

The building of the Temple sticks out this time. How does this apply to me? Right now? Well, I need to use great care in building MY temple in my heart. Your Word gives me LOTS of instructions about what You would like my heart to look like. Am I doing the work to make my Temple magnificent? You are worthy!

The other Temple I need to tend to is my body. I can be more fruitful for You in a healthy body. It is my responsibility to take care of it, no one else’s. I know I need to be better in this area.

You do not live in a physical building. you live within ME. I am Your Temple. You are worthy of the sacrifice and effort required to build You a healthy, magnificent Temple.

P~ Help me to see in my daily-ness that I can continually choose to honor You with every small decision. I can choose You or me. Help me to choose to meditate on Your Truth so that my heart would stay aligned to Yours. Help me to remember that every choice of food, drink, or exercise (or not) is a brick in YOUR Temple. I love You!

Deception | Marisa Hartman

S~ No one who practices deceit will dwell in my house; no one who speaks falsely will stand in my presence. Psalms 101:7 (NIV)

O~ David is committing himself and his household to follow God’s commands and laws. He will not allow the kingdom he rules to become like their ancestors who “did evil in the eyes of the Lord.”

A~ Lies and deceit hurt. Call it what you will; wronged, duped, hoodwinked, swindled, scammed, manipulated, or slandered, it’s all the same. A trust broken is not something easily repaired, if it is ever repaired. Forgiving the offense doesn’t make forgetting easier. A broken heart can mend, but there will still be a scar. I have inadvertently hurt others with lies and I have been hurt by lies. Letting deceit into your life – even a “little” lie- gives the devil a hole to worm his slimy way into your heart. The lies become bigger. There are lies to cover the lies already told. And when it all comes crashing down, because it will, all that is left is broken shards of trust that cut deeply. Light overcomes darkness.

“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15

Serving the Lord means following His commands. Loving God means speaking truth. My job is to make sure my household knows the path that leads to Jesus. Allowing or overlooking lies sends my people in the opposite direction.

P~ Lord, thank you for light and truth. Thank you for overcoming the darkness. Lord, I pray that you bring healing and wisdom to my heart so that I may point myself and my family to the path that continually leads us to You. I am honored to serve You and find my place in and with You. Amen
