With ME | Kim Chipman

S~ And David became more and more powerful, because the Lord Almighty was with him. 1 Chronicles 11:9 (NIV)

O~ King Saul has died and David was anointed King over Israel. Once King he conquered cities that Saul had lost.

A~ Of all the reasons for David’s success it strikes me the simplicity – because the Lord Almighty was WITH HIM.

I have access to have you WITH ME, too! I don’t feel called to conquer anything with military force, but I could use some help with: guilt, shame, selfishness, pride, impatience, etc, etc. I can have power to defeat these things in my life because You are WITH ME and I can do ALL THINGS through Christ who strengthens me! ALL. THINGS.

P~ Lord, I love You! Help me to become powerful against sin for Your glory!

Approval | Marisa Hartman

S~ Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ. Galatians 1:10 (NIV)

O~ Paul is reminding the people of Galatia to hold firm to the original teaching of Christ.

“Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.” Galatians 1:7

They are being led astray with “extra things” being added to their teachings. When we hold tight to His teachings, and not the whims of popular culture, we are pleasing to God. When we follow whatever new fad is popular, we become servants of culture and not of God.

A~ Oh, approval… you dirty little snake. You’ve hunted me for far too long. There’s this hole in my heart that you keep trying to convince me that you’ll fill, but you lie. You never do and you never can. Only God can fill the spaces in my heart. You, approval, can fake it for a little bit. You’re very convincing that you’ve made me whole. Your allure fades quickly though and I should have learned by now not to trust your sneaky ways. I want to wholly be a servant of Christ and I can’t do that with you constantly pestering me. Now, when I’m getting those all too familiar feelings of “not enough” I’ll turn to HIM and run from you. He is my comfort and shield; my rock and redeemer. I need only His approval for a fruitful and joyous life. My days of being a chameleon to please the people I wanted to impress are over. My heart, mind, soul, and body serve the Lord.

P~ Lord, thank you for approving of me always. Even when I mess up, You are there with loving arms saying, “it’s okay, keep trying my child.” Please keep me close to You and help me keep my focus on being the one you call me to be rather than the one I think others want me to be. My heart is full with YOUR approval when I stay close to you. As I stray that stupid snake comes in and gets me to believe his lies. Keep me close Lord, and don’t let go. Amen
