“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. I need You | Kimi Miller
S~ O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water. Psalm 63:1 (NLT)
O~ …Search for peace and work to maintain it. (Psalm 34:14b)
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:13)
A~ When I neglect my need for You – when I don’t make my relationship You with my first priority I deteriorate. At least it feels that way. But the instant I turn to You, the moment I’m intentional about seeking You – I find You. And my soul finds the peace it is seeking.
P~ Forgive me, Jesus. I know You are what my soul longs for – You are the refreshing and living water I need, and I neglect to turn to You. I repent from my stubbornness and pride – doing things on my own until I’ve worn myself out. I turn to You today and ask You to take those things away. Let my heart, mind, and soul desire You above all else. I love You, Jesus. Thank You for restoring my sou.
Your love > anything in my life | guest post
S~ Because Your love is better than life, my lips will glorify You. Psalm 63:3 (NIV)
O~ David thought that God’s love was better than life. David, a man after God’s own heart, said this – proclaimed this – lived this by speaking about God’s glory.
A~ I’ve spent this morning in prayer for my kids. The world, culture, instant gratification is working hard for my kids’ hearts – I need to be battling for their souls in prayer.
A couple of years ago my kids asked me to quit talking about faith, Jesus, or anything on the way to school. This pretty-happy, talkative morning person is raising non-morning humans who want silence on the way to school.
I respected their request and our car ride to school turned silent. Now that time has passed, I don’t think I made the right decision.
Because God’s love is better than life, my lips will glorify Him! I really believe that with my whole being! God’s love is better than anything in my life. Even all the good stuff added up – God’s love is better! So my lips should be praising His Name!
P~ Father, in effort to respect my kids’ wish, I stopped praising Your Name. It went from out loud with my kids in the car, to silent praise in my head, to thinking about my to-do list for the day. It was a slow and silent turning my thoughts and words away from You. Please forgive me! Prepare my kids’ hearts to hear my praises from here on out when are in the car! I love You!
