“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. Jesus, the Promise Keeper | Tara Wiley

S~ And the Lord gave them rest on every side, just as he had solemnly promised their ancestors. None of their enemies could stand against them, for the Lord helped them conquer all their enemies. Not a single one of all the good promises the Lord had given to the family of Israel was left unfulfilled; everything he had spoken came true. Joshua 21:44-45 (NLT)

O~ “The Lord gave them rest… the Lord helped them conquer… everything He had spoken came true.”

While the promises in these verses are particular to the Israelites, Jesus echoes them in the New Testament. These promises are part of His character, and He gives the same promises to us:

Rest: 28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light (Matthew 11:28-29, NLT)

Conquering power: “…And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.” (I Cor 10:13, NLT)

37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. (Romans 8:37, NASB)

A~ Oh, how I love the character of God! When He gives a promise, I can count on His word. Just taking a moment to let that fully sink in brings deep peace and reassurance to my restless heart. When I am weary – when I am tempted and weighed down – I can find the strength I need by leaning on the never changing, promise-keeping character of God.

P~ Lord, I worship You as the God who never changes. I can trust You completely. Forgive me for ever doubting that You will come through for me. It may not be in the way I expect, or on the timetable I prefer, but You WILL be faithful to Your promises. You WILL provide what I need. Thank You!

King of the Earth | guest post

S~ For God is the king over all the earth.  Praise Him with a psalm. Psalm 47:7 (NLT)

O~ God reigns over all – past, present , future.

A~ On vacation we went to a natural history museum – it was amazing!  What stood out walking through all of the science stuff was all the colors of quartz, minerals, rocks, etc. I saw every single color that has ever been seen.  God, You are the inventor of all things.  You made every single color and hid them all over the world in rocks, in caves, in water.

P~ God, thank You!  That You are KING over all the Earth!

Our team would love the privilege of praying for you! Please share how we can lift you in prayer at prayer@DiscoverOneThing.com
