April 13, 2018 Joshua 3,4; Romans 8:1-17

“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. Click HERE to go directly to the daily reading if you wish.

Consecrate My Heart |  guest post

S~ Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”  Joshua 3:5 (NIV)

O~ Consecrate is a declaration or dedication of something as sacred. Joshua commands the Israelites to dedicate themselves as holy relics to God. They are to prepare themselves for the presence of God to do something amazing. He will only do these things when our hearts and minds are open to seeing His work.

A~ What is my daily reading to me? Is it to check a box off a list, or to broaden my knowledge of the Scripture in order to teach it? Or am I daily consecrating myself in the utmost expectation for God to show up in my midst? By daily preparing myself for the King, I am better equipped to be used by Him and for Him to reveal Himself to me. If an esteemed guest is coming over, you do not wear your pajama pants and over-sized T-shirt! If we are constantly interacting with God, we will know what to wear and how to act to best be used by Him. And you never know who He might send your way in His place.

P~ Lord, daily consecrate me to be Your vessel — that I might prepare the way for Your presence. Father, I believe You will show up and do miraculous things. Thank You. Amen.

I’m not alone | Luisa Penaherrera

S~  And since we are his children, we will share his treasures—for everything God gives to his Son, Christ, is ours too.  But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.   Romans 8:17 (NLT)

O~  Suffering is part of what we will share in Christ.

A~  I think one of the things that make suffering harder is I feel like I’m at it alone while others are ok. But then I realize that there are times others are suffering and I’m ok.  God you work with us individually and intimately. So what I go through will look differently than others and that’s ok.

P~  Thank you dear God for loving me so.  Thank you for what Jesus did for me, for us.  Forgive for the times I have questioned you because of suffering.  Thank you that even though it seems I’m alone in my suffering, I am never alone because you promise to never leave me nor forsake me. I love you.
