“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. Seeing Scripture through my brother’s eye | guest post
S~ Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong; for like grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. Psalm 37: 1, 2 (NIV)
O~ This psalm of David contrasts the wicked with the righteous.
A~ April 3rd and 4th of this year was the Martin Luther King Jr 50 year anniversary conference. I’ve had the chance to hear a few talks from it, by pastors, and am not sure what to do with the information.
One particular pastor addressed some thoughts that I’ve had in my head: I’m staying out of politics and policy. Jesus is the answer to ALL problems, so that’s all I need. My view has been righteousness in Christ ONLY. One pastor said that righteousness and justice come from the same root word – you can’t have one without the other. If I desire the righteousness that Christ gives, I cannot refuse the justice.
The pastor also addressed justice without righteousness – that just won’t work. Jesus has to be the core of healing, bringing peace, moving forward. He mentioned the pain, the devastation from his white brothers and sisters staying silent about the injustices in his colored community.
Oh, I have much to repent of.
But when I read these verses today, I’m reading the Word through the eyes of the pastor I heard. And I’m the evil man, I’m a part of those who do wrong. And those people fade away – having no impact in the Kingdom of God.
P~ Father, forgive me! And Thank You for letting me see that programming! Undo, break apart, pull out any sin, injustice in me that aligns my heart with evil men or those who do wrong! Please keep teaching me about Your righteousness and justice and my next steps! I love You!

thanks for this post. That really gives me something to ponder. I think we often are guilty of the sin of ignorance and neglect.
