April 2, 2018 Deuteronomy 16,17; Romans 1:18-32

“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. Click HERE to go directly to the daily reading if you wish.

Current desire of wisdom | guest post

S~ He holds victory in store for the upright, He is a shield to those whose walk is blameless. Proverbs 2:7 (NIV)

O/A~ Wisdom is something I must participate in as well.  The author says to turn my ear, cry aloud, look for it, apply it, search for it.  The Lord gives wisdom, but I need to pursue it.  I desire the victory in a certain area in my career.  Well, actually, it’s an area that I would like to grow in.  I’ve prayed for wisdom from the Lord in this particular area, but I also need to pursue wisdom; maybe read a book on my particular area.  But whatever it is, I still need to pursue the wisdom that the Lord gives.

P~ Father thank You for wisdom filled conversations!  Thank You for setting my feet on this path!  I love You!

S~ I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong — that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.”  Romans 1:11-12 (NIV)

O~ Paul is expressing his desire to see these believers in Rome, not only to fulfill his mission of sharing with them and strengthening them in the gospel but so that he might be encouraged by their faith, too.

A~ These emotions that I have been grappling with and journaling about over these past few days surrounding my eldest son’s graduation from high school are not unique to me.  They are shared by other moms in my circle of friends. Some are right there with me, going through the transition for the first time with their firstborn.  Others have already graduated one or two or more.  Still others are not here yet, but know this will be their kids sooner than they’d like to think. It’s hard. No getting around it or candy-coating it.  But we are not alone.  God has given me His Spirit to offer comfort and guidance.  And He has given me a community of other moms to walk with on the journey.  Just today I had to give a pep talk to my friend because it is hitting her hard, she is stressed and overwhelmed, but really is just hurting to see her son has grown up and is ready to move away.  With much love and grace, I am trying to talk her through it. Tomorrow, she may need to talk me down from the ledge.

P~ Father, Thank You that You don’t just leave me here forsaken and alone.  I am so blessed to have a doting husband, terrific kids, loving parents, and an extended network of caring friends to pick me up when I falter.

Encouraged! | Kim Chipman

S~ When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours. Romans 1:12 (NLT)

O~ Paul is writing to the Romans. He wants to go visit them.

A~ I absolutely love meeting with other Christians to talk about Your Word and how You are speaking into each of our lives. It is filling for me and so exciting to hear how You use circumstances so personally and specifically for each of our journeys. I look forward to getting together – it is encouraging!

P~ Thank You for the gift of other believers. Thank You for Your Word that we can use as our anchor and guide. I love You!
