“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. These are a few of our SOAP notes from today’s reading. We encourage you to read and journal on your own first, then join us in conversation about what God revealed to YOU today. Click HERE to go directly to the daily reading if you wish.

Truth, Not Feelings | Luisa Penaherrera

S~ The Lord is my strength and shield.  I trust him with all my heart.  He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy.  Psalms 28:7 (NLT)

O~ You are these things to David, you are these things to me, regardless if I feel it’s true or not.

A~ My feelings steer me away from you, with thoughts of failure, despair, fear.  But I choose to turn to you and I want to thank you for your love for me.

P~ So I also say, in the words of king David, dear Lord, You are my strength and shield.  I trust you with all my heart. You help me and you fill my heart with joy. Thank you.

Connections:  Across the Globe and Over Time | Kelley Deases

S~ So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them [Paul and Barnabas] and sent them off. Acts 13:3 (NIV)

O~ Certain practices of the early church are enduring.  That is an encouragement to my heart.  To know that Paul and Barnabas, as they were sent out on a mission trip, were prayed for and had hands laid upon them by fellow believers connects my experience with that of the historical Church.

A~ A few years ago, my teenage son and I, along with a crew of about 25 people from our church, went on a mission trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica, to a sister church there. Having gone from the arms of our church family into the arms of new brothers and sisters in Christ, to assist them in building a new church facility and to show love to orphaned children and babies, was a powerful moment.  Not so unlike those early excursions taken by Paul, except that the same good news he carried with him had never been heard before!

P~ Father, Just as we have opportunity to spur one another on in our faith — through prayer and fasting and laying on of hands — I am so grateful to also receive encouragement from Your Word, which recounts the stories of the early church and the early missionaries.  They had the same call on their lives we do today, to share the life-changing good news of Jesus Christ, in word and in deed.
