“There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42 (NLT) The heart of this ministry is to inspire a love for God’s Word and encourage the discipline of daily Bible reading and SOAP journaling. Given strength and blessed with peace | Kelley Deases
S~ The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace. Psalm 29:11 (NIV)
O~ On any given Saturday morning, as I am waking up, pouring my coffee and preparing for my day, you will find me watching “Cesar Milan, Dog Whisperer” on television. I am amazed by the way he can transform a nervous, yippy, hyperactive or aggressive pup, along with an owner who is frazzled and frustrated to the brink of insanity, and restore peace and harmony to that home. Cesar will explain to that owner how their canine really desires a calm state of being and to be secure in his master’s leadership, but when this authority is lacking, chaos and confusion ensue. It is a blessing to that animal when it can rest in the knowledge his owner is in charge. (You would think with my devotion to Cesar Milan and his techniques, I’d have a well-behaved dog myself, but not so. At least I can draw a spiritual parallel.)
A~ In my own life and circle of friends, a married couple I know and love are about to take in their three grandchildren, even as they have two children still at home and currently reside in a small apartment. Obviously, this is no small sacrifice for them, but they desire to do right by these children who lack stability and a proper home with their parents. I thought of this family when I read this verse this morning. I believe God will empower them to do what He has laid before them to do; He will give them the strength. And the blessing for those precious children is no more chaos, no more drama, no more fear, but the peace of a God-fearing family in a God-fearing home.
P~ Father, I know full well how You have given me strength when I could scarcely bear up under the weight of something, but also how Your peace is the ultimate blessing which flows from Your hand.

S~ Peter finally came to his senses. “It’s really true!” he said. “The Lord has sent his angel and saved me from Herod and from what the Jewish leaders had planned to do to me.” Acts 12:11 (NLT)
O~ When I read about Peter’s escape from prison, I’m amazed! It was impossible. But not for You. All things are possible for You. You answered prayers and rescued Your servant.
A~ You are still in the business of answering the prayers of Your people. You still rescue. Your purpose still prevails.
P~ Thank you, Lord, for knowing what is best, and for knowing how and when to answer prayers in the best possible way. amen.
